THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLOWERING AND FLORAL TEA

So... odds are (if you aren't a tea connoisseur) you may have never seen flowering teas before discovering The Qi tisanes, and that's okay! I didn't know about them when growing up either, but when I found these beautiful little blooming flowers in a cup, I couldn't go back. Not only are they so healing, but they have anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. But people often confuse them with regular flower teas even though the names can be used interchangeably. Find out a little bit more about the difference between flowering and floral teas below.

What are flowering teas?

Flowering teas are an art that dates back from China many hundreds of years. Some of them are usually shaped or tied with tea leaves and whole flowers in the middle, and nowadays they are a bit showier. Their popularity has since spread throughout North America and Europe, allowing more and more people to appreciate their amazing qualities.

A few common flowers used in flowering teas are lotus, jasmine, lily, rose, osmanthus, chrysanthemum, and rose - like our special Qi tisanes - and they are usually edible!

The name "flowering", which can be used in place of "blooming" or "flower" descriptors, often refers to the way the teas open when placed in a hot cup of water. Whether they are sewn into shapes such as cones, hearts, ovals, or they are just plain flower buds, these tea infusions are a nourishing way to start and end the day.

What are floral teas?

Floral teas can be easily confused with flowering teas, but they aren't quite the same. While they are both equally as magical, floral teas encompass a bit more variety when it comes to which ones to drink and why.

These teas come in both loose leaf and tea bag forms, including the ingredients like green tea, rose, lychee, hibiscus, elderflower, and more. Instead of buying pre-sewn and single flower buds, you can mix and match different loose leaf teas in an infuser or buy tea bags that already have a pre-made pairing.

With heady aromas and vibrant colors, floral teas can also provide relief from a variety of ailments. Flowering teas have a smaller selection to what benefits and properties they contain, however florals work on a larger spectrum. Some aid in digestion, vitamin C, stress and depression, and even insomnia. Others help with energy, metabolism, lymphatic flow, and even cholesterol and blood pressure.

In all, these teas do amazing things no matter they are called or what forms they come in. All I know is that you should get yourself some today! With a myriad of flavors and ingredients to choose from, you will never fall short of options and times to drink a hot cup every day.
