Lane, tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do
I am an artist currently living in Portland, Oregon. I make metal sculptures that incorporate different materials throughout varying pieces. I love my kitty Scoot, we’ve been bffs for 9.5 years now! I would take her everywhere if I could, but she hates to travel :( I am a Gemini sun and libra moon, and I love getting out of town.
Scoot sounds like a lovely companion. Where are you from and where do you call home now?
I was born in Houston, Texas but grew up in North Carolina, and moved to the west coast 8 years ago! I currently call Portland home, but I am planning on moving back East very soon!
How exciting! Where did your love for flowers come from or what first drew you to flowers?
What’s not to love about flowers! Little Earthly delights! I love that they are also often therapeutic and healing.
Agreed! What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on a few larger mirror pieces, framed in metal and plaster and color.
And what are some inspiring words you love and live by?
“NO ONE WAY WORKS, it will take all of us shoving at the thing from all sides to bring it down.” Diane Di Prima
I love that. What’s a daily ritual that’s made an impact in your life?
Writing in my journal in the morning.
What are you drinking and eating currently?
Coffee and Challah with peanut butter.
Yum! What brings you pure joy?
Traveling to new places and seeing the sunset over mountain ranges.
Who is someone that had the most impact in your life for the better?
My friends! And witnessing people being kind to others without wanting anything in return.
That's so heartwarming. Where do you find inspiration or what have you found super inspiring lately?
I find inspo by challenging myself through working with new materials and mediums.
