What is your typical day like?
My days start off the same but they usually always have a different component in the evening due to the work I do. I wake up, sit in bed for 15 minutes, say three things I'm grateful for and pray. Then I check my and theGIRLMOB's social media pages. I work at The Wing as the Senior Manager of Culture and Diversity, so my day usually involves emails and cross departmental meetings. Then there's a mixture of things like coffee with a member or lunch with a potential partner, as well as presenting or leading an event in the evening. Then I go home to the man I get to call my fiance who happens to be a chef, and (I'm very grateful) I get to eat a dinner he's made. I finish off my day by answering emails and editing content for theGIRLMOB.com.
Which parts of your day do you find the most joyful?
I really enjoy the morning because I get to sit in bed for a little while and it's very peaceful. I can set the tone for my spirit, and sit in the quiet before the busy sets in.
Which parts of your day do you find the most stressful?
Probably the commute. NYC trains have a way of pushing you to the edge. Whether it's no seats, too crowded, smells, being stuck underground etc, the subway can sometimes make or break your mood.
What does self-care mean to you?
It means finding the thing that centers you and making time for it in a consistent manner so that your mind, body and soul feel taken care of.
What is the most transformative book you have read?
I read The Alchemist when I was 21 and it changed my perspective on a lot of things.
If you find out you only had a week left to live, how would you spend it?
I'd make sure to see all the people I love, record messages for them as well. Most importantly go see a place I've always wanted to experience alongside my sweetheart Derrell. I love traveling with him and I'd want him by my side.
How about some goals and dreams you currently have?
I have a few! I really want to re-focus on me and my self-care and love, I think those terms are thrown around a lot but figuring out what works for me is very important. I also want to grow within my career sector and be seen as a thought leader. And I want to elevate theGIRLMOB as a brand alongside our new team!
