Michelle Pellizzon, Holistic Health

Michelle Pellizzon is the founder of Holisticism, a collective dedicated to making "wellness and wellbeing more accessible to more people". A former professional dancer and Boston-qualifying marathoner, she is also a certified health coach, holistic nutritionist, and personal trainer.

Michelle received her bachelor's degree from New York University and certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. 

What is your typical day like?
I'm really lucky as I sort of get to make my own hours. I usually wake up around 5:30 am to take some time to settle my thoughts - I write, sometimes give myself tea ceremony, meditate, maybe sneak in a workout. I'm usually at my computer by 7:30am planning how my day is going to go. It's always different when you're running a business - sometimes I'm writing emails, meeting investors, vetting practitioners, or planning events. I usually have 3-5 meetings or phone calls with partners or members of our team. During the day I always try to listen to what I need - whether it's to take a break, read a book, eat something nourishing, or go for a quick skate session. I also try to make something once a day, whether it's a song (my partner just got me a synthesizer which is terrible for my neighbors but delightful for me!), a painting, a poem, or a love letter.

Which parts of your day do you find stressful, if any, and how do you manage those moments?
It ebbs and flows for me. When I get to be in my creative space - ideating, building, writing, visioning - I'm rarely stressed. I'm in flow. Things that sometimes knock me out of flow are more logistical or quantitative, although I do really love keeping my KPI excel spreadsheet updated!

What are your usual self-care habits, if any?
Meditation is huge for me, as overplayed as it might sound. But I've also found that free writing is an interesting access point to my subconscious mind, and integral to my wellbeing. I also require alone time. I love people, and I love being around people, but I really do need at least one day to myself.

What is the most transformative book you have read?
The Four Agreements is so simple and so impactful, Atomic Habits is INSPIRING and wonderful and a very typical 'personal development' book, but the fiction book Einstein's Dreams is one that really changed my perception of time.
If you find out you only had a week left to live how would you spend it?
Only one week? I'd try to convince someone to take over the Holisticism mission, and then I'd spend the next 6 days holed up in a house in Big Sur with my favorite people in the world eating good food and laughing and sharing. Then I'd come back and haunt their asses.

I try to always remember that at the end of the day, we are here to fulfill our souls' purpose — and that's what matters ❤️
