Amy Galper is a co-founder of the New York Institute of Aromatic Studies. She has been a Certified Aromatherapist since 2001, as well as a passionate advocate, entrepreneur, formulator and consultant in organic beauty and wellness. She has also co-authored the newly released book, “Plant Powered Beauty”, published by BenBella Books.
Over the past several years, Amy has also built a vibrant consultancy practice, offering her expertise—in ingredient research and sourcing, product formulation, wellness event planning, USDA Certification and more—to a number of beauty and wellness brands. Amy has appeared as a featured speaker at the Indie Beauty Expo, Women in Flavor & Fragrance Conference, various media events, conferences and EcoSessions. She has been a guest lecturer at NYU, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and is a member of the Visiting Faculty at Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Herbalism in New York City.
She has been featured on FOX NEWS, CUNY TV, and FAT MASCARA, and has been quoted as an aromatherapy expert for dozens of articles and posts about essential oils as seen in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Dr. OZ, Prevention, Well and Good, Better Homes and Gardens, Mind Body Green, People, Allure, Refinery29 and many more.
What is your typical day like?
My typical day begins and ends with sharing a cup of tea with my husband, and checking in with each other. And for the entire day, I try to be present and grateful. Everything else that falls in between - working with essential oils, running our business, eating, exercising, keeping in relationship - is always fun and exciting.
Which parts of your day do you find stressful, if any, and how do you manage those moments?
What stresses me out the most is when the people i love and work with are feeling stressed, irritated or aggravated. I don't want anyone to feel stress. Also, I find that the feeling of not having enough time sometimes creeps in, and that stresses me. I have to remind myself that I am in control of how I manage my time, and when I relax more into that I don't feel as stressed. Yoga, cups of tea and surrounding myself (always) with the beautiful aromas of essential oils help keep everything in check.
What are your usual self-care habits, if any?
Laying present on my yoga mat breathing.Placing drops of my favorite essential oils on my palms then placing my hands over my heart center, back of neck and top of my head. Drinking beautiful hot tea. Aromatic Baths. Spinning. Sleep.

Hugging every person I love.
What is The One Thing you do daily, that keeps you balanced and in check?
Smelling essential oils!
